BACKGROUND

The Pavilion, a 1.5-million-square-foot site at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, reflects the caliber of Penn Medicine's reputation, and was also designed with patient experience at its core.

CHALLENGE

How can we infuse a state-of-the-art facility with an authentic spirit that patients and employees will appreciate?

solution

HHP handpicked two tenants for the ~3,000 SF footprint; Bower Cafe, a coffee shop run by a native South Philly entrepreneur, and Root & Sprig by Tom Colicchio, which offers healthy grab-and-go and made-to-order food. Both raise the bar on quality, yet have stories that anyone in the community can connect with.
